dog food donations

the lexington humane society is asking for donations of wet cat food. they say, they're running out...and need more, ahead of a busy time of

year for taking in cats. that will include a growing number of cats rescued from a hoarding case in lexington. garrett wymer shows how you

can help...new at 11. this was the scene on monday... as animal care and control officers continued to pull animals from a lexington home neighbors

say smelled like death. "it is revolting. i watched the cops knock down the door a couple of days ago, and the second the door got knocked down stuff just came

rolling out." it was quieter on tuesday...but officers say they still found another cat...the sixth rescued since friday. they've also found

one dog at the home. "officer timothy brown with animal care and control says officers are checking the home every day for more animals - and they still think more are inside."

meanwhile workers at the lexington humane society say they need more wet cat food as they get ready for an influx of cats and kittens over the next few

months. they don't have the cats from the hoarding case yet...but cases like that further fuel their need in an already busy time of year.

"not only do we give them dry food each and every day, we supply them a dollop of wet food which kind of enriches them, keeps them engaged, keeps them socialized and keeps them

healthy. because a happy cat is a healthy cat, especially in the shelter environment." hammond says they'll also need more fosters to care for cats before they're

the humane society says they received about 800 cans of cat food today. but they say, they still need more...because they go through about

forty cans a day.
