dog breed bans
the queensland government has introduced newlaws that promote the responsible breeding of dogs the legislation has been developed becausemany queenslanders are concerned about the welfare of dogs used for breeding. from 26 may 2017, all dog breeders must beregistered on the queensland dog breeder register within 28 days of their puppies being born. every registered breeder will have a uniqueidentification number – their supply number – that can be used to trace every puppythey breed back to them. this supply number must be provided when adog is advertised, sold or given away.
you can help by only buying a dog that hasa breeder supply number and by reporting unregistered breeders. so before you buy a dog, ask for the breedersupply number and check online to make sure they’re registered. visit qdbr.daf.qld.gov.au to check dog breederregistrations and report unregistered breeders.
