(theme music) hello viewers. welcome to the first episode of my animal series, all about animals. this series will talk about animals in alphabetical order. this first episode will be about the adelie penguin. this penguin is named after a french territory in antarctica. adelie penguins are around two feet in height and weigh 13 pounds. like all penguins it is a flightless bird that stood upright, and had a feathered body, long thin wings, a small head, small beak, small feet, and tail it had distinctive white rings around its eyes. it looked alot like it was wearing a tuxedo. the adelie penguin can walk on land and swim. it could swim at five miles per hour. it eats krill, fish, and squid.

this penguin lives in antarctica. adelie penguins lay eggs. they arrive in their breeding grounds in october and november. their nests consist of stones. since the temperature is freezing cold, parents have to incubate the eggs and go a long time without eating. eventually in march, parents and their young return to sea. adelie penguins need ice free land to breed. these penguins spend most of their lives near costs. they are preyed on by leapord seals and skuas. this animal is classified as near threatened, meaning that it could go extinct sometime in the future. these penguins steel rocks from other adelie penguins. here is the classification for this animal. this is the end of the episode. be sure to like, share, comment, subscribe, and stay tuned for more videos coming up soon.
