hi i'm nancy frensley and i'm the trainingmanager at the berkeley east bay humane society in berkeley, california and we're talkinga little bit today about how to care for a dalmation. now dalmations have been a particularlyselective bred for running. these dogs like lots and lots of exercise. they were usedas coach dogs for oh, a couple of hundred years to accompany coaches so all they didwas ride on coaches and run along beside them so a lot of that is still in their genes.they are a short haired dog but they handle weather very nicely. they need a diet fora high energy dog and they need to be able to run a lot so this is the type of dog thatis going to need a lot of exercise and obedience training because guess what tires them out,using their minds. so you give your dalmation

logs of obedience training and really reallylots of socialization. these dogs were bred to be independent to a great degree so themore you socialize them the better they are going to be in your family.
